The wait is over! Relentless Pursuit, the fourth novel in the Bluegrass Brothers series, is now live on Apple, Amazon, Kobo, and Nook. See below the book description for links to download.

Pierce Davies watched as his older siblings fell in love – something this bachelor was not ready for. After all, he was now the most eligible man in all of Keeneston! Though Pierce enjoys the playboy lifestyle, his life is his work and that hard work is set to pay off big time with the unveiling of a big secret. However, this work hard, play hard attitude may have also landed him in hot water as he finds himself arrested for a brutal murder with all evidence pointing to him.

Tammy Fields has been suffering from the crush to end all crushes. But her flirtations have fallen short as Pierce Davies always ended up in the arms of a Keeneston Belle. Having waited long enough, Tammy decides now is the time to grow up and move on. She has a good job as a paralegal and a hot new boyfriend. But everything changes quickly when Pierce is arrested and Tammy is called upon to help with his case. While working closely with Pierce to prove his innocence, she realizes her crush is something far more meaningful as she risks everything to save him.

Will they finally find love or will the increasing danger prevent their happily ever after?

Last week I asked for you all to submit questions you always wanted to know. I have compiled a list and here are your answers! Inquiring minds want to know:

1. When did you know you wanted to be an author?

Well, I was a late bloomer even though I always enjoyed writing. In the second grade I did a whole mystery series (I watched a lot of Murder She Wrote) that my class acted out as a play. However, in law school I only had time for reading case law and writing briefs. I became serious about writing again a couple of years after I passed the Bar Exam.

Everything clicked after I got about three chapters into Bluegrass State of Mind. Bluegrass State of Mind started out as a fun outlet for my creative side. I wrote those three chapters and had an “Ah ha!” moment. I scrapped what I had written and then developed the whole Bluegrass Series before sitting back down to write.

2. How did you find time to balance writing with everyday life?

It was hard. I was a new mother and an attorney, so I didn’t have a lot of free time. The only time I had to write was at night. I would come home from work, we’d have dinner and family time, and then our daughter was tucked into bed, I would sit on the couch next to Hubby and work. Luckily, I am not the type of writer that requires silence. So, I would work until I went to bed and then on weekends as well. During nap times, after bed time… the house was a wreck, but I finally got my first book done!

3. Who thought of the town Keeneston? It sounds a lot like Midway, KY.

I grew up in Nicholasville, Kentucky and went to college in the small town of Danville, Kentucky. I came up with the idea of Keeneston as one of the many small towns surrounding Lexington. There are several of them: Nicholasville, Danville, Midway, Versailles, Georgetown, Paris, Winchester and some that are so small it’s hard to find them on a map, like North Middletown, Sadieville, Burgin and Crab Orchard, Kentucky. I had visited all of them and just adore the feel of those towns.

I love walking down the street and having people wave even though they don’t know you. Or people just pulling over to chat with someone on the sidewalk. I took the best parts from these towns and incorporated them into Keeneston. My hope is that whether you’ve visited a small town, live in one, or have never been to one that Keeneston will give you a taste of home.

The coolest part for me is getting notes from readers all over the world saying they know a town like Keeneston. It’s so wonderful to see how we are all connected. Keeneston reminds one person of Midway, Kentucky and another of their small town in California, Texas, New York, Ireland, or Australia- I’ve even gotten a letter saying Keeneston reminds them of their small island, Saipan, in the middle of the Pacific!

4. Are any of my characters’ relationships based on real life relationships?

Yes and No. None of my characters are based on anyone in particular, but I have used my experiences to shape some of the relationships. My parents have been married for almost 45 years. My grandparents were married for 67 years. I use that as an example for Marcy and Jake. I was also blessed enough to have a great-grandmother who lived to 101 years old and my other grandmother is currently 93. While the Rose sisters are quite a bit younger than that, their life experiences gave me lots of ideas.

I have friends who own horse farms and my family owned a standard bred race horse when I was very young. That was who Boots was based on, but he never won the Derby! In fact, all the animals are, or have been, my real pets and some of their antics are completely true.

But, for the lead characters the answer is no. They have a romance all of their own.

5. How many times have I used my Hubby as a stand in for a fight scene?

Ha! The sad answer is most of the scenes! He’ll be upstairs working in his office and I’ll call him down and say, “If you try to choke me…” Then I see where I can hit him and how to get out of the situation. Hubby deserves a lot of credit for being beaten up in the name of the Bluegrass Books!

6. Would I recommend waiting to find an agent to get a book published or going straight to an e-publisher?

I don’t know. I always say publishing is like parenting. What works for my family and me may not work for you. I think the best course of action it to investigate both publishing options. Disect the good from the bad about both, pick the path that works best for your current life situation, and never close the door completely on the other options. You never know what may be around the corner.

Thank you to everyone for writing in and asking questions! This has been so much fun and I hope you feel as if you know me and Keeneston a little better now.

Hi all! I thought we could do something fun this week. I want to know what you’ve always wanted to ask any of your favorite authors! It can be anything… what is your favorite color, do you have a say in cover design, why did this character do that, what do you do to relax… anything goes!

Comment below in our new comments section (ooohh—aaahh). I will do my best to track down the authors and combine all of the questions and answers into a single post for next week. Please don’t be afraid to ask anything! The more questions we get, the more fun it is for everyone.

As many of you search for books on your Apple products, you may have seen my name coming and going on the bestselling charts. Or, even weirder, you noticed Rising Storm ranked #5 and #7 in Romantic Suspense. Well, let me explain….

I have been using a distributor to send my books to Apple. However, as many of you have written to me over the years, Apple readers are always the last to receive new releases. How many times has it been a week after my book has been released and you’re forced to wait to read it?

No More!

I have teamed up with Laurens Publishing and they have improved the process dramatically. What does that mean for you as a reader? You get new releases when everyone else does! You also get the ability to pre-order!!!!

What does this mean for me? Well, this is the part that makes me sad. It means my books are now treated as new entires in the iBookstore and they have lost all those wonderful reviews you have left for me and given all my books.

Is there anything you can do?

YES!!! You can download the “new” Bluegrass State of Mind for FREE and then leave the same review you left the first time. You took the time to rate/review it and I am so appreciative of that. It would help Bluegrass State of Mind return to the ranks of the top free romance it just left.

As I move forward with my new partnership with Apple, I am happy to give to you the ability to pre-order and receive new releases promptly. Thank you and I look forward to Pierce’s book later this spring!

Happy Reading and THANK YOU for all of your wonderful support!

Many fans of the Bluegrass Series are also fans of Jan Scarbrough. And it really makes sense with both of us basing our romance novels in Kentucky. I was very excited when she agreed to an author interview. Here is some information about her newest release:

Kentucky Rain

Kate Lawrence is a single mom who is recently divorced and ill-prepared to make it on her own without a college degree or profession. She moves to her small Kentucky hometown to make a new life for her daughter and herself. Carrying emotional baggage with her, Kate is not sure she is ready for the man she finds living right next door.

A confirmed bachelor, Scott Gray thinks he’s gotten over Kate, but when he finds out who his new tenant is going to be, he’s surprised at the depth of his reaction. Carrying a torch for someone who hasn’t given him a thought in years is ridiculous. There is no time like the present to grow up and move on. But does he really want to do it?

Tell us about your Bluegrass Reunion series and what inspired you to write it.
Kentucky Rain, my March release from Resplendence Publishing, is the seventh book in my Bluegrass Reunion series. Although each romance stands alone, they have a few things in common. Set in Kentucky; they are reunion stories. The heroine is usually a single mom; and in keeping with the Bluegrass theme, a few horses are thrown into the plot for good measure, especially American Saddlebred horses that I have owned and ride almost weekly.

I’d written six books before I realized that none of my single moms were divorced. Since I’ve been there, done that, I guess it’s taken me a while before becoming comfortable enough to write about the topic.

The books were written in this order.

Kentucky Cowboy—Bull rider/veterinarian—She dumped him in high school, because he was a risk-taker.

Kentucky Woman—Banker/exercise rider—She loved him when she was a teenager, but they never connected.

Kentucky Flame—American Saddlebred Horse trainers—She had his baby, but he left not knowing the truth.

Kentucky Groom—Teacher/software designer and Saddlebred groom—She can’t afford to fall in love with a lowly groom.

Kentucky Bride—American Saddlebred Horse trainer/CEO—She rejected him once, but he’s willing to try again.

Kentucky Heat—Country music singer/artist—She doesn’t need to take on another project, but he won’t take no for an answer. (Sequel to Kentucky Bride.)

Kentucky Rain—Divorced single mom/security consultant—She has responsibilities to her daughter and to herself, not to the handsome guy next door. (Mentions characters from Kentucky Cowboy.)

What do you have planned for the future? Will you work on stand-alone books or are you creating new series?

I am working on a first-person, Gothic paranormal ghost story for Turquoise Morning Press. It is for their Splintered category series, and I’m having great fun with it. I have plans for a cowboy story and another medieval romance, which will be the sequel to My Lord Raven.

What one thing can you not live without while you are writing?
The Emotion Thesaurus: A Writer’s Guide to Character Expression by Angela Ackerman, Becca Puglisi

What was the last book by another author that you read?

The Kingmaker’s Daughter by Philipa Gregory

Bless your heart! What is your favorite Southern saying or slang?
Maybe it’s not my favorite, but I can hear my mother saying it to me:
“You’ve got another thing coming.”
I looked it up, and it’s an idiom which means “to be greatly mistaken” or “you will have to rethink your position.” Sometimes “think” is said, not “thing.” “If you think so-and-so, then you’ve got another think coming.”
